» France » Île-de-France » Paris » How to get from Orly Airport to Paris: all options

Charles de Gaulle Airport is the largest in the capital, and Orly Airport is the second most important. For many travellers, Orly is the starting point for their acquaintance with Paris. How do you get to the city centre from here? There are plenty of ways: fast, budget-friendly and as comfortable as possible.

And if you don’t feel like figuring out the transport system, you can always book a taxi to your hotel in advance — a simple and reliable option.

Metro line 14

The most direct route to the centre is the new terminus of line 14, located directly at Orly. The train runs without transfers and takes you to Châtelet – Les Halles, where you can easily transfer to other lines.

  • Travel time is about 40 minutes.
  • Price: special Paris Region – Airports ticket for €13.
  • Navigo: if you have a pass that covers trips to airports, you do not need to buy a separate ticket.

The ticket is not paper: it must be downloaded to your Navigo Easy card or the IDF Mobilités app.

RER B train + Orlyval automatic line

With the opening of line 14, this option has faded into the background: the transfer and slightly longer travel time make it not the most obvious choice. But Orlyval has its own audience. If you need to get to the RER B line, it remains a convenient solution.

  • ORLYVAL stops: Orly 1-2-3 (level 1, exit 12d) and Orly 4 (level 0, exit K)
  • At Antony station, change to the RER B line and take it to Paris.

The bottom line: this is the easiest way to get directly to the Gare du Nord or Gare de l’Est, to the universities in the Sorbonne area, to the Luxembourg Gardens, or even further afield to Saint-Denis and Charles de Gaulle Airport. Line 14 requires transfers, while RER B takes you there without transfers.

RER C suburban trains

This option is suitable for those whose destination is on the RER C line: near the Eiffel Tower, the Musée d’Orsay, the Saint-Michel – Notre-Dame area, or the Invalides or Austerlitz stations. In such cases, the route via RER C is more direct than a trip with transfers in the centre.

  • First, take bus 183 or tram T7 from Orly (stop at Orly 4 terminal, exit G, arrivals hall) to Pont de Rungis station.
  • Then take the RER C train, which will take you directly to the centre of Paris and key stops on the Left Bank.

This is a good choice if your destination is the Left Bank of Paris.

Buses and trams without transfers

These are the cheapest routes from Orly, but also the most ‘local’: they only go to the southern outskirts of Paris.

  • Bus 183 goes to Porte de Choisy station (metro line 7).
  • Tram T7 goes to Villejuif – Louis Aragon (the terminus of metro line 7).

This is convenient if you live in the southern districts of the city or want to save money on travel. However, you will have to change to the metro to get to the centre, so this is more of a «budget option»‎ for getting to Paris than a full-fledged alternative to direct routes.

Magical Shuttle

The Magical Shuttle connects Paris – Orly, some hotels and Disneyland. If you are travelling directly from the airport to Disneyland, this is the option for you.

Choose a hotel at Disneyland Paris

Stops in Paris – Orly:

  • Paris – Orly Sud: Bus station – Platform 2 – Entrance G.
  • Paris – Orly West: Arrivals Hall – Platform A – Entrance I.

Travel time: 60 minutes.

You can book your trip in advance online at this link.

If you are going to Disneyland, you will also need a ticket to the park itself. Book it here, because they are no longer sold at the entrance, only online.

Taxi to Paris

Only taxis located at the exits can accept customers. They can be identified by the «checkers»‎, i.e., lights on the roof of the car. The fare is fixed: depending on which bank of the Seine you are heading to, it ranges from €30 to €45.

You can find official taxi drivers at these exits from Orly:

  • Orly South Terminal (Paris – Orly Sud), exit L
  • Orly West Terminal (Paris – Orly Ouest), exit B

You can also book a transfer from Orly to your hotel or from your hotel to the airport.

Please note: do not use the services of dubious individuals offering taxis in the arrivals hall. We assure you that you will not save any money!

Car rental

You can rent a car in advance, which will be waiting for you at the airport, and continue your journey in it. The road to Paris takes 30–40 minutes (faster if you are lucky with traffic).

However, for trips outside the city, a rented car opens up different horizons: from the classic Versailles and Fontainebleau Castle to the wine routes of the Loire Valley. This format is suitable for those who want to combine Paris with independent travel around the region.

Whichever route you take, Orly remains a convenient gateway to Paris. And travellers often have other roads ahead of them: some continue their journey via Charles de Gaulle, while others prefer flights from Beauvais. All three airports are connected to the city in different ways, and each has its own subtleties.
